The Lion of Lyon (for Lyon Expo 2015)

Illustration for the advertising campaign promoting the "Foire De Lyon 2014" (LYON EXPO 2015). Illustration by Charis Tsevis for Publicis Activ Lyon.

The "Foire de Lyon" (Lyon International Fair) is an international business expo held every year in March in Lyon, France. The expo was born in 1420, when Charles VII granted the city the privilege of hosting two free fairs per year, while Lyon had joined the crown of France in 1312, and the Champagne fairs had been held since the twelfth century. Today, the Lyon International Fair is a trade show for furniture, decoration, and related sectors.
For the advertising campaign of the "Foire de Lyon 2015," I have been commissioned by Publicis Activ Lyon to create a series of illustrations with wires. The dominant one would be a lion representing the city of Lyon. A house has also been created for the fair's deco section. I have also created a combined version of the house and the lion, along with some wire compositions to serve as dividers and decorative elements across the various layouts.

Standout mosaic details worth a closer look:

Made with custom-developed scripts, hacks, and lots of love, using my Mac, Studio Artist, the Adobe Creative Suite, and good music.

You can see some older illustrations made out of wires here and here.
